Squirrel in attic/home/house


Squirrels love living in attics as they provide a dry, warm place to live with lots of nesting material – your insulation.  Squirrels cause a lot of damage to your attic by packing down the insulation, moving insulation to create nests and by chewing everything in sight.  Squirrels pose a great safety risk with their chewing as they will chew through electrical wires, which could cause electrical short, or worse, fires.

Squirrels gain access to attics through very small holes.  When trying to locate holes concentrate around vents, chimney bases, fascia and soffit, near any downspout or corner in the roof, etc.  The checks on your home should be done annually or better yet, twice a year.  When doing your check look for loose and curling shingles.  Repair/replace these ASAP
