Hawkeye’s Birds of Prey Pose for Pictures at SickKids Scrubs in the City Gala
On Thursday, June 1 2017 Hawkeye and team had the pleasure of showing off our birds of prey to over 1000 guests at the SickKids Scrubs in the City Event held at Toronto’s own Evergreen Brick Works. Our beautiful Eurasian Eagle Owl and Harris Hawk caught the attention of party goers at this Marrakech themed party donned in their Moroccan inspired costumes and vividly coloured gowns all for great pictures with our magnificent birds. Our birds of prey fit in perfectly with the exotic décor and entertainment. Guests were able to get up close and personal with birds, learn a little about them and pose for a picture. Who doesn’t want that picture on their Instagram or Facebook page ‘exotic birds and party gowns’!
This isn’t the first year for the Scrubs in the City Event. SickKids has had a few years of spectacular parties with themes like London and Tokyo guests purchase tickets to support SickKids cause and enjoy a social event to remember. This year raising $650,000 for the hospital. The Hospital for Sick Children is well known for its world-renowned care of children, research and educators, the largest of its kind that supports the health of children in Canada and has the largest pediatric research building in the world.
The venue served up a cool historical site in Toronto with hot colours, lights, jewels, amazing food, drinks and solid entertainment. Evergreen Brick Works is the site of an old brick factory, now a trendy place to visit for its historical value along with weekend markets, artistic events, kids outdoor activities focused on ‘green’ learning and the environment. It is set on a beautiful piece of property that includes trails of green space nestled within the city. The old factory walls and some equipment has been left for great photo opportunities and history.
Hawkeye is proud to support such causes by demonstrating falconry and teaching others about birds of prey. It was just last year that Dan Frankian of Hawkeye supported another cause for children Reach for the Rainbow at their Crystal Ball Gala, an organization that supports children with disabilities integrate into mainstream society through summer camps throughout Ontario.
