Burlington which is part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has a population of 176K.  Located between Oakville and Hamilton, Burlington boasts a beautiful waterfront along Lake Ontario.  It is also located in the center of the Golden Horseshoe and spans over 187 square kilometres. With such a large waterfront area, it naturally draws a large number of pest birds to the area such as gulls (seagulls) and geese (Canadian Geese). These birds can often have a negative effect on locals and tourists’experiences.  Geese often leave significant amounts of feces on park space while gulls produce uric acid in their droppings which can cause irreparable damage to light posts, boats and buildings.

With more housing developments getting closer to Highway 407, a lot of skunks, coyotes and other small wildlife are being pushed from their homes leaving new houses and yards at risk for nesting grounds.  With residents creating gardens and ponds it further provides wildlife water and food sources. Recently with a resurgence of rabies cases found in raccoons in the Hamilton area, Burlington residents should be on alert for rabies being spread into the area.

One of Burlington’s most notable attractions is the Royal Botanical Gardens spread over 980 hectares of land is a significant horticultural resource.  It has a large number of plant and animal species as well is another significant bird area along the Niagara escarpment.  The Royal Botanical Gardens is home to the 2nd largest garden show in Canada. (The Ontario Garden Show). Also known for their Rib Fest held every year in September, it is Canada’s largest rib fest.  Many festivals including this one are held in Spencer Smith Park along the waterfront. Connecting Burlington to Hamilton along the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) is the Burlington Skyway, a large concrete bridge that cuts over an inlet of Lake Ontario making a shorter route into Hamilton and the Niagara Region.

Seagull Control and Removal Burlington

seagull control burlingtonIn addition to its proximity to Lake Ontario, Burlington's seagull control issues are aided by the availability of food in public areas. Well meaning humans (and just plain careless ones) feed seagulls and other birds - be it intentional or not. Aside from unsightly droppings along the lakeshore, nesting seagulls pose a real risk to human health as well as structures and equipment. Burlington has the perfect combination of food, water, and shelter - and it shows.

At Hawkeye, we employ a variety of methods to help you rid yourself of your seagull control problem. This includes conventional methods, but more importantly, we use Falconry and our trained Birds of Prey to liberate large spaces of seagulls and other pest birds. Results are immediate and humane, taking advantage of the natural relationship between prey and predator. Visit our seagull control sections to learn more about available seagull removal services.
